Kids cricket bats in every junior size

A child learns cricket faster with a bat they can actually lift, swing and control. A bat that is too big or too heavy drags the hands down, forces a cross-bat swing and slows reactions. CBP junior cricket bats are made in Size 1 to Size 6, so young players get a bat that matches their height and strength from the very first net session.

The range covers two woods: Kashmir willow bats for beginners, tennis ball and practice, and English willow bats for young players who are already playing leather-ball cricket at an academy or school level.

Junior cricket bat size chart

Choose the bat by the player's height, not age alone. Use this as a rough guide:

A quick check at home: stand the bat upright next to your child's leg. The top of the handle should reach roughly the top of the thigh. If your child is between two sizes, choose the smaller one, or message us on WhatsApp with their height and we will recommend the right fit. Players taller than about 5'5" usually move up to a Harrow and then a Short Handle bat from our English willow or Kashmir willow range.

Kashmir willow or English willow for kids?

Kashmir willow is the sensible first bat. It is harder-wearing, forgiving on mistimed shots and ideal for tennis ball cricket, gully cricket and early leather-ball practice. Start with the CBP EDGE G2, or step up to the CBP EDGE G1 and the EDGE Kashmir Special.

English willow is lighter for its size, with a bigger sweet spot and better ping off a leather ball. It makes sense once a young player is batting regularly against a hard ball. Options run from the Saber Spark G3 and Attack G2 up to the Force G1, Force Player Edition and Force CBP Choice.

Picking a profile for a young batter

Every CBP junior bat is available in five profiles: VK, HLS, TTS, CBP and SRT. For most children, a bat that feels light in the hands matters more than big edges, so VK or HLS, which have a lighter pick-up, are easy starting points. Stronger young players who like to drive off the front foot may prefer the fuller CBP or SRT profiles. Each product page explains the five profiles in detail.

Is the bat too heavy? A simple test

Ask your child to hold the bat by the handle with their top hand only, arm straight out in front, for about ten seconds. If the bat drops or wobbles, it is too heavy. A light bat lets them play straight, which is exactly what coaches want to see at this age.

Are junior bats pre-knocked?

Every CBP junior bat arrives pre-knocked. Kashmir willow bats are ready to play straight away. For English willow, a short top-up knock-in or a few net sessions with older balls before facing a new hard leather ball protects the face and helps the bat last longer.

2. Should a beginner start with Kashmir willow or English willow?
Most beginners are better off with Kashmir willow. It is durable and forgiving and suits tennis ball and practice cricket. Move to English willow once your child plays regular leather-ball cricket.

3. Can kids use these bats with a leather ball?
Yes. English willow junior bats are made for leather-ball cricket and arrive pre-knocked. Kashmir willow bats handle tennis ball and entry-level leather-ball cricket.

4. Why not buy a bigger bat so my child can grow into it?
A bat that is too big or heavy teaches bad habits and makes batting harder. It is better to buy the right size now and move up when your child grows.
